Unmoving Concentration

Teacher: Mr. Chai
Date: Monday Dec 7, 2009 8:00-9:30pm

Dear classmates,

I went to LuJiang with my parent, my sis, and also with my godparent. My godparent were so happy about Dizigui that they wanted to listen to Mr. Chai's lecture. I think they like the part of me being a prisoner for 9 days without internet.  Btw: thank you Miss Chan Lan for your wonderful cakes. My sis loves it.

The 'aha' that I learn from Mr. Chai was the unmoving concentration. He said when we learn something; we must sincerely learn it without any wandering thoughts. He gave a story where an ancient Chinese scholar was known for his unmoving concentration in studying. Even rains and thunders do not waver his thoughts. That scholar later became one of the high ranking officer in his time. I reflected upon myself where my mind was wandering even when Mr. Chai was teaching. I am sure I can learn even more with less wondering thoughts. Therefore, I hope this story will remind me and fellow classmates to be sincere in learning and to reduce wandering thoughts. [bow]

  1. Haha i wish i could have that unwavering concentration. I think too much TV and crazy media when i was a kid makes my brain have a very short attention span.

I think the internet nowadays, with the way we search things and glance over things also creates interruptions in our focus.

  2. I always find it very difficult to pay 100% attention during every lesson as I cannot prevent my mind from wandering while the teachers are teaching. I am glad that Robin remind me here to stop my wondering thoughts. Well, I should put in more effort in concentrating during lesson from now on.
